Basic Thanksgiving Stuffing


Can we all agree that stuffing is the most delicious side dish on Thanksgiving? Heck, I will even admit that I enjoy stuffing more than turkey. Stuffing represents all that is good in a traditional Turkey Day meal. My favorite is cornbread stuffing. Dare I say it, boxed stuffing mix is the only packaged food item that I wholly support. At the very least, a basic Thanksgiving stuffing will have onions, celery, and butter, and broth makes the whole thing moist. Somebody who goes all out on stuffing may add ground sausage, nuts, dried fruit, etc., but let’s make things easy for college students and just make this dish as simple, but still delicious, as possible.

Here’s what you need:

Packaged stuffing mix (I like cornbread!), chicken broth (or stock), butter, chopped onions, and chopped celery.


Pre-heat that oven to 350 degrees F and butter up a casserole dish. I like to use the butter wrapper to grease the dish with. It keeps my hands clean and ungreasy.


Set that baby aside.


In a large pan, melt a stick of butter (it’s Thanksgiving! chillax). And add the chopped veggies.


Cook the onions and celery until translucent and soft.


Add the stuffing mix…


Stir it all around til everything is combined.


Pour in about 2 cups of chicken broth. You can add one more cup if you like moister stuffing. Remove from heat after all the broth has been soaked up.


Transfer all that stuffing to the buttered dish. Spread it in an even layer and bake for about 20-25 minutes, just until it’s nice and crisp on top.


Voila. My favorite Thanksgiving side dish.
